Title: After market player pianos...
Post by: perfect_pitch on April 22, 2015, 11:57:19 AM
Greetings...

I own a Yamaha C2 Grand piano, and wanted to know if any after market devices can be used to begin recording piano performances, and whether they also offer playback on the piano - things like the Yamaha Disklavier and the PNOmation stuff... Has anyone got any advice on good systems, cost etc???

Pianomation systems are sort of the gold standard the others are measured too.  You can add PNO Scan/midi record strip to it also.  I haven't installed one yet, but I got to check a (new) working system out and it is indeed very good with no noticable plunger/solenoid noise.   There used to be a player unit out also that rolls up like a cabinet over the keys, but if I'm not mistaken, they might have gone out of business a few years back.  This one was a play only model.

That might make sense as I tried contacting them a while back and got no response whatsoever.
