Title: Better Staccato?
Post by: rubinsteinmad on May 09, 2015, 01:13:10 AM
Hi!
I'm enlightening on the piano  ::) and I found that a lot of my staccatos are WAY to long/sticky/heavy. Some pieces include Haydn's Sonata no. 63, III and Liszt's Tarantella. Does anyone have any sugestions PLEASE?????? (And perhaps some excersizes as well?)

     Thanks! :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*

Hi rubinsteinmad,

Try light staccato from flexing the wrist down and up, with other motion minimized.

Hey mate

I find that staccato is easily done with a very very slight movement of the wrist and using the tips of your fingers.

Remember that the weight on your fingers comes from the shoulders so try to control how much weight your're bringing to the touch as well.

When you're playing the repeated notes in Liszt's Tarantella try not slide down the keys when changing fingers try to just touch them :)

hope this helps
