Hi Everyone,
I am listening to it now and am finding it to be interesting.

hey this is really cool, but can i ask what's played at the start? is it just an improv on some of the themes ?

I think so... Preluding was an art very "trendy" at the time, and a lot of composers (Hummel, Ries...) wrote short pieces for the unable to improvisate in a virtuoso manner.

Hi Rzewskiing,
I've read that this is "preluding" music Liszt composed to be played before the Sonata.

I find the fact there there was a "prelude" written to be played before the sonata extremely interesting if true That was a fact I had never heard of until now, and I've been listening to the Liszt sonata all my life. Does anyone have any more information on this?

Someone once gave me a link to it at I.M.S.L.P. I might be able to find it. I'll look for it late tonight and if I find it I'll post the link here.
