Title: VIDEO: Poem No. 2
Post by: lateromantic on September 13, 2015, 12:50:52 AM
I posted my Poem No. 1 about two years ago; in fact, I think it was the first composition I posted here.  Here at long last is my video recording of my other piece in the genre, the Poem No. 2.  I tried to get a little more creative with the visual aspect of this video, so I'll be curious whether you think it works well with the music.

For those who prefer to follow the score, here is the "score video" for the work:

I'm always so impressed with your work. Wonderful job! You've been a big inspiration to me for awhile. You're certainly the best/most mature composer here. Great work!

Thanks, AJ!  You should know that I have recently been drawing inspiration from observing the energy that you have been pouring into your own musical endeavors.

I really like the deep rumbling beginning of this poem, as well as the beautiful ethereal ending, and the central turbulent climax. The parts in between did less for me, I found them a bit meandering and harmonically unclear. But there are some wonderful sonorities throughout !

Re: the video I found the superimposed starts quite annoying, rather as if my display needs a good dusting (which it does, but not thad badly :-) )

Your fingers are interesting to watch. It seems an unusual way to play. If it works for you, great - but I wonder how it would feel in fast passage work.

Ha, ha, when I first started working with it I decided to clean my monitor too!  Anyway, the superimposed visual was an experiment, perhaps one that was less than successful.

Your fingers are interesting to watch. It seems an unusual way to play. If it works for you, great - but I wonder how it would feel in fast passage work.
To tell the truth, when I reviewed the video I was shocked at the way my finger technique looked too, particularly the uplifted fingers in the final section.  I'm going to have to work on my finger relaxation.

Thanks for the feedback!
