Title: The art of piano pedagogy - an article about independent learning
Post by: keyquest on December 05, 2015, 05:08:22 PM
Hi everyone!

Here's an article which brings together quotes from Heinrich Neuhaus and ... Lao-Tzu. Oddly, they shed light on each other!

It's basically a discussion about the importance of developing independence - and as always I am interested to hear what others think! Thanks!

great article :)   so many students take no responsibility for their own progress...  they do what their teacher says and no more.   Then when they don't develop into the ultimate pianist the blame goes right back to their instructor.  If you plan to do this for a living...or for a lifetime, or both...you should be immersing yourself in learning all you can.   There is no way a teacher can give you absolutely everything...  they can get you to the point where you can move on by yourself and THAT is when you really learn to play. :)
