Title: Kawai K-800 v K-600

I have a Kawai K-6 that is having some issues, and (long story short) Kawai is offering to replace it with a K-600 or, for a few dollars more, a K-800.

I do not yet know what the extra cost for a K-800 would be.  They are working on a figure for me.

Is the K-800 a big leap forward from the K-600?

Also, what is a reasonable price for a new "K-800" in the US?

It is hard to tell from the web...

does your k 600 have a true sostenuto pedal in the middle -- the K800 does and the specs imply that it's the sole kawai upright to have one.  otherwise, the only difference by kawai's listed specs is a different hammer felt, and a fancier music desk.  retail prices in the u.s. for new pianos appear about 5-10% higher for the 800 compared to the 600.  they look like very nice uprights, my reservation would be on their retail, new prices, which are as much as nice used kawai grands go for.  at 53 in. the k 600/800 still falls short of the smaller grands 63-68 in. with their quicker action.
