Title: Arturo Michelangeli and polonaise
Post by: mjames on October 21, 2016, 03:06:41 AM
Anyone know if this dude recorded the polonaise fantasie op. 61 by Chopin? I have a recording on my iPad that I downloaded several years back (2011 I believe) and I listed the performer as Michelangeli. However I'm having a hard time searching for the recording online. None of his Chopin records mention anything about him performing/recording it. Want to know if he really did record it or not, if not, I'd like to know the name of the performer! I'll upload the file later.

No, as far as I know he didn't.

Weird...could have sworn I saw a recording on youtube awhile back. Memory's messing with me. Any ideas on who the performer is?

He's recorded the Fantaisia op 49, maybe that's what confused you?

I have absolutely no idea...I am not on my main computer with all my music to compare, but this does not sound familiar to me in any way...

Looks like I'll have to go on a marathon so I can figure out who this guy (or woman) is.

It is not Michelangeli, it is Milosz Magin (1929-1999) a great composer and pianist. He was a great Chopin Interpreter, but he is not in the media these days. I remember he made me enjoy this piece for the first time...  :)
