Title: Two clavichord improvisations
Post by: Derek on October 28, 2017, 01:13:43 AM
Hi all, sorry I have been gone for...I dunno, years? But I now have a new clavichord. Since quantum still posts organ music, I suppose I can keep posting clavichord. Haha

As it has caused you to emerge from the woodwork and share your music, maybe I should be putting more organ music up  ;).

You have a solid grasp of the aesthetic of music of the period, and it comes with flavorful hints of the present.  In the past you shared your ideas of approaching Baroque improvisation, and it seems you have persisted in your inquiry.  I imagined I was basking in the sound world of Couperin.  This was very enjoyable, and yes please share more clavichord music.  I think it is important for pianists to know the roots of their instrument.

Do tell more about your new clavichord!

I am lucky enough to live 10 minutes away from clavichord/harpsichord maker Douglas Maple. He built me a 5 octave unfretted clavichord modeled after a design by J.H. Silbermann.
My soundcloud page has a photo of it as well as additional recordings.
