Title: Chopin Competition
Post by: ignaceii on February 25, 2018, 04:44:46 PM
Considered the biggest competition.

I keep it short. As the competition. Chopin from the first note till the last.

That is the biggest competition.
My God.

No new pieces in recital, and orchestra like the Queen Elisabeth.
No Bach, Haydn,.... no chamber music of some composer. Chopins chamber works are a cello sonata, if performed.,
No eclectic, virtuoso final concerto.

Chopin is not easy.
But af least you only have to concentrate on his romantic Repoertoire.

Leeds
Queen Elisabeth,   You need to study by heart in one week 2 newly composed pieces, just one part of the competition. Recitals, Mozart concertos,... follow and the final. Most are worn out adterwards.
Moscow
Von Cliburn

These are other Mount Everests.

Sorry Chopin. No price for you.

And the banner here calling the Chopin the biggest. What a blame !!  Waltzes, mazurkas, ballades, enfin, romantic miniatures, the scherzi bit more virtuosic. And then ? 1 st or 2nd concerto. Poor.

Biggest as in the most prestigious, I don't think any competent person think it's the hardest. Peanuts for brains.
