Title: Online Piano Job Available - $20 per hour - Flexible Hours
Post by: keystroke3 on May 26, 2019, 11:16:47 AM
I run an online piano teaching business (video lessons on a membership site). The site has been doing well and I get a lot of questions from students on the lessons in the course.

Basically, I'm looking for a piano teacher to help answer people's piano questions over email. Here's job description and qualifications:

Job Description
-$20 an hour
-Flexible hours (work whenever you want as long as you get through the emails)
-5 days a week (but can choose any days)
-Work from anywhere (i.e. there is no "office" you need to come into)
-There will be a training period for the first couple weeks, you will get paid for these hours at the same $20 an hour rate.

Qualifications
-Must know how to play piano
-Preferably some teaching experience as well
-Good communication skills
-Reliable (this is BIG for me)
-Long term: There is some training involved, so I'd prefer someone who is in it for the long haul

How to Apply
Click this link to fill out the application form:https://forms.gle/gvxqb9uUtR8QM1A18 (https://forms.gle/gvxqb9uUtR8QM1A18). The form will get your contact info, plus a few sample emails for you to answer to see if you'd be a good fit for the job. Any questions let me know below or email me at zach@bestpianotips.com

Don't piano teachers charge around $50/hour?  Since you probably have your own teaching philosophies and ideas, do they need to reflect yours, if their thinking is different?

Teaching rates vary widely by area and experince. When I started teaching in the middle of Wisconsin as a student, I started at $15 an hour. Even the experienced teachers in the area charge $30. In Los Angeles people charge $80 and up. So it's different everywhere.

Plus teaching a student is a lot more work than sitting on your laptop answering emails, and you can do it any time, so it's just extra income!

And yes and no. I do want the teacher to teach some things the same way I do (for example, I have a very specific way of organizing  practice routines) but other things would be more up to the teacher to decide.

Hope that makes sense!

Were I a student asking questions remotely, I would still want the answers to be well thought out and reliable.  It is even more important, in fact, because if you teach in person, you'll be able to tell next lesson if something went awry.  I have done some on-line things on the teaching side. Sometimes it takes half an hour or an hour for your two minute answer to take shape.  Just a thought.

A fantastic idea keystroke3 and good opportunity for teachers who enjoy answering a lot of forum posts questions already for free. Nothing will replace in person one on one lessons but some people don't have that opportunity and this is one good substitution.
