Title: Playing for Myself
Post by: mdufermont on November 29, 2022, 04:36:18 PM
Why does learning piano always lead to performance?  I play piano just for my enjoyment.  I don’t need validation that I play well or that I’m a good musician.  I play because I LOVE the music…for myself.

Isn’t that enough?  Your thoughts please.

I thought that way for a long time but then various people began saying they liked my music so I started sharing it with recordings and scores and the occasional private session. Validation doesn’t matter, it’s just about giving people the chance of hearing it. If they like it fine, if not fine.

I just play for my own enjoyment too, there's no problem at all with it. It's a shame and quite bizarre that not everyone realizes this.
