Title: Dukas Piano solo music

other than the ravishing sonata do you guys know much of his piano music and what are your opinions of it?

Dukas is definitely underrated and worth playing.
The sonata, e flat minor and lasting 50 minutes, is very good and impressive.

Another work is variations on a baroque theme (I think Rameau), which is also a very good work, and quite difficult. He exploits most romantic piano techniques in these variations.

Dukas was a friend of Debussy, but his piano music is not anything like Debussy. It is in the late romantic style, grand conception and complex tonal harmony.

wasn't he in the same class as Debussy at the conservatoire? along with ravel
