How has the invention of the nuclear bomb changed the ways wars are fought and politics are formed? (I have to write a research paper on this and I am looking for ideas.)
-
It freaks the hell out of normal people.
And political leaders really do seem to consider using them.
I am not sure if it prevented wars, that is hard to tell. But how much does it matter if it prevents five wars and makes the sixth absurdly destructive.
I don't think it really changes how wars are fought, unless it is used in the type of war. It did have a major impact on politics. Of course its hard to say how the world looked without them.

ok. i'm still in the religious mode - and reading revelation to boot. rev. 14:2 tells us not to be fearful "here is the perseverance of the saints who keep the commandments of God and their faith in Jesus" Brahms used the text that follows 'Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on...that they may rest from their labors, for their deeds follow with them"
we know that sometimes God uses 'types' of something to come. ie. elijah (john the baptist) and then Jesus Christ so, if daniel was a type - we see he and his three friends rescued from a furnace burning 1000x hotter than it needed to be to completely burn a person. not a hair of his head was singed. God has control over fire. so, it doesn't do us any good to fear fire. we should fear God.

Dangerous words.

adding tothat
fear religion

No, fear GOD. The Bible tells us to fear God because man can only destroy the body, but God is able to destroy the body AND the soul. BUT....He doesn't want to do that at all! The choice is up to us!!
-
There is no proof god ever touched anything, let alone destroyed something.
Now I am convinced of the destructive potential of the atomic bomb and religious fundamentalists.
Lets not make a case for fearing god and lets not talk down the destructive potential of the atomic bomb. Sounds alot more reasonable.
-
I think the main effect of the atomic bomb was preventing an invasion of Western Europe by Stalin after WWII. I don't know if it would've happened without the atomic bomb, but it seems like it would've been a good possiblity.

You know what, you are right. Although this thread has some value, unlike some other threads, it pertains nothing to piano, right?
See, my problem isn't with creating non-piano threads, it's with creating stupid threads. This atleast had soma chance for a normal conversation. If you, oh mighty Etude, would like me to close it, your only need to say please.
