Title: Want to learn Polish
Post by: faa2010 on October 12, 2010, 10:55:05 AM
I want to learn Polish, but it's quite difficult. Can someone give me some tips so it won't be difficult? At least I can recognize a few words as how to say yes (tak) and no (nie).

And does anyone share the same interest in learning Polish?

All of the Polish people I have come into contact with speak very good English, so I lack the desire to speak Polish.

Is there a movement to learn languages that can only be used in the country of origin? Everybody thought French would be the default language of the EU at its inception but English became the language before England "sort of" joined. (opt out clauses..)

My wife and I can understand and make ourselves understood in most of Western Europe in the native language of the area. However, English and Spanish are the languages we use the rest of the time we are not in those countries.

While I think it is a good mental exercise to try to learn another language, realistically you will loose it quicker than you learned it if you are not in that country.
