Title: Piano insurance UK
Post by: maitea on August 09, 2013, 02:27:42 PM
Dear All,

I'm bringing my grand piano from Spain (hurray!) and want to insure it here in the UK.

Does any of you have your piano insured? With whom? Which rate? Advice?

Many thanks chaps!

I investigated this issue at some length a few years ago. The conclusion I came to, after exploring a lot of blind alleys, was that the best option was simply to add the value of the piano to the house contents insurance, as a specified item on the policy. Although there are various specialist musical instrument policies, they are largely oriented towards portable instruments, and thus cover a lot of risks like theft, loss or damage in transit etc which don't really arise with a domestic piano.
