Title: Sweat
Post by: lotiro on July 17, 2018, 05:09:22 PM
Does anyone sweat when they're playing the piano (especially when they practice/play difficult passages)?  I do.  It's like I'm at the gym.

But I'm not out of shape.

No one else experiences this?

I mean not really. I've seen people sweat from live performances cause of nerves and stuff but not from just playing around

When someone's playing a full recital with demanding repertoire in a hot room, obviously sweat is gonna happen.

Buuuuuut... no one should sweat just playing a single piece. (unless it's something massive like Hammerklavier, Petrushka, Rach 3 etc) Unless you weigh 500 pounds and piano is your workout.

Try performing one of Sorabji's large scale piano works or any of his three symphonies for organ solo and see what happens...

Best,
