How can you NOT allow musicxml file attachments? I would like to hear the justification please.

Good question.

I admit I've become pretty much overly frustrated by music typesetting schemes, and as is usually the case for me when confronted with similar challenges, I find it easier to just grab a pencil (Staedtler Mars Technico loaded with B 2mm lead, currently) and staff paper.

But, looking into MusicXML, even though it seems most of the big players in software engraving/typesetting are on board, the actual format doesn't appear to be that different than LilyPond LaTeX mark-up.  Which is a pain to write in and read, but those problems go away if you have MuseScore or a similar program to translate.

How come you can't just link to a hosting site, like one would for a photograph or movie?

It would be odd if PF explicitly blocked such links, but probably the easiest answer might be true:  nobody thought of it yet, so it hasn't been done.  Or it's on the backburner while admins are doing other stuff.

Don't know, obviously, but thanks for bringing MusicXML to my attention, at least:  not something I'd type in directly with vim, but it's good to know.
