Piano/ Music Magazines
on: June 23, 2002, 08:39:12 AM
Does anyone know of a decent music/piano magazines? I have subscription to Clavier, but that's more focus on teaching. I was wondering if there are magazines out there that are more focus on music itself.
Thanks!

Can't say that I have.  I have been looking for the same kind of thing, but most magazines focus on new cd's and artists - (one more time!   ::))

I also would love to find a magazine or newsletter (through a university, perhaps?) that focuses on literature, and maybe where to find more obscure pieces, history of compositions, not just the famous stuff, etc.

So much music, so little time........

There are two other magazines other than Clavier of which I am aware.  There is International Piano.  It looks like a really great magazine.  I just started my subscription, so I haven't received my first issue yet, but it looks like a great piano magazine.  The other is Grammophon.  I bought a copy of it at Border's for like $9.  It was really cool.  It had reviews of every new CD out there, some reviews of older ones, an article about Glenn Gould, and some reviews on stereo equipment.  Both magazines are very pricey, somewhere in the range of $60-$80 per year, and neither publish 12 issues (I don't think).  I believe both are based in the UK.  Anyway, I hope you find that helpful.  :-)

Are there any Piano megazines that can be viewed online? Without having to subscribe, that is.

Take Your Seat! Trifonov Plays Brahms in Berlin

“He has everything and more – tenderness and also the demonic element. I never heard anything like that,” as Martha Argerich once said of Daniil Trifonov. To celebrate the end of the year, the star pianist performs Johannes Brahms’s monumental Piano Concerto No. 2 with the Philharmoniker and Kirill Petrenko on December 31. Piano Street’s members are invited to watch the livestream. Read more
