Indeed! The ultra modern design pianos are mainly for display only. I've never seen a Bosendorfer grand in person, let alone touched one. I never knew such a piano brand existed. I don't know much about piano brands but I think the quality of the piano must be along the lines of Steinway. I want to play on this piano particularly because of being the few piano brands to have extra black keys down in the low end of the piano.

Unless I'm wrong, I think Sorabji used some of the low Black notes for his compositions?
You're not wrong! Full details of his specified requirements will be found at https://www.mus.ulaval.ca/roberge/srs/05-advan.htm#boesendorfer.

The lowest notes on a Bösendorfer 290 are, however, of arguably more significance in terms of the effect that their presence has on the overall sound of the remainder of the instrument than in the relatively rare instances on which composers have actually called for any of those extra 8 notes in their piano works.

Best,

Alistair

Thanks for the link. It took me a while to really get the point even after reading the passage over and over again.
I only know of one other piano brand that also employs extra keys in the bass and that is the Stuart and Sons pianos, based in Australia. I wonder, why didn't the Imperial Bosendorfers include extra notes in the treble? One of life's tough questions I guess.

If there is a round table that has been made and a bar piano table surely this horse shoe like piano should! I'm not sure how it functions as compared to a normal piano.

Has anyone played on a piano with keys of unconventional colours?  I wonder if that would affect your playing somehow, unless you are used to not looking at the keyboard.

@GN22 - I've tuned a number of Essex pianos, and I love Steinways and have no problem with the Bostons. For the money for an Essex, you can get a much better piano elsewhere.

lol

the little one is not a piano though, sure looks like one in a way huh, it's a celeste, i've always wanted one but they are so incredibly expensive! hard to find good used one in a decent keyboard size, yamaha makes a couple of nice ones but i think the cheapest of the twoo starts around 15-20,000 dollars, and that s so much for an instrument that will see litte use, essentially pretty sure orchestras and such are the only folks who end up buying them. they're freakin cool though, fantastic sound.

Yes, I know it's a celesta. I just posted it because I've been playing the celesta a lot in the wind ensemble I play in.

I don't think I've ever alternated between such extremes of desire and disgust in my life. Some amazing and some horrific creations here.

Not sure I saw this one yet (not playable, but still kind of cool):
