To be fair, Australia has had some very intriguing serial killing cases as well...so while you may be able to avoid J_tour due to distance, there's probably another one lurking somewhere near your neighbourhood...

The same here of course about the guns...however I seem to remember there are more guns per capita in this country than most other European country. But this is because hunting is so popular, not because you can buy one anytime anywhere or carry it around waiting for a moment of frustration where using it randomly feels like a good idea.

I was sort of agreeing with you The point was that the amount of guns alone is not the issue (until it reaches the level you see in US) , but the "constitutional" right to have and use one. There's no such thing here, it's more of a proviledge that can be taken away anytime. So most people do their killings with sharp objects, not bullets.

These were not wild mice but pet mice that got old or ill. I would never trap a mouse, that's cruel and unnecessary!

That's why the glue taps are so appealing.  When you snare one, just toss it outside and let the hyenas or raptors have at it. 

If I could trap one alive, then clearly the many guillotines sold for use in laboratory settings are the best solution.

They make them suitable for use upon larger rats, hamsters, and rabbits, as well. 

It's much better than me chasing them around with a baseball bat studded with nails.
