grieg's lyric pieces

i'm looking for a short lyric piece of grieg
something calm and beautiful to play, i'm tired of playing fast pieces.

any suggestions?

You should try his Notturno from his op 54 I believe. There is also a short piece entitled "Melody" but I can't remember the Opus nummber from that.

Besides the Notturno, I'd suggest the Duetto and the 2nd and 3rd Venetian Boat songs.

What a shame!, the boat songs are from Mendelssohn. Have patience to me. Try instead the Lyric Piece named Vanished days.

Arietta and To Spring are good choices, and there are many others from his Lyric Pieces, very good ones in Op. 12.

Four of my favorites are Berceuse/Vuggevise op.38#1, In my Homeland/I Hjemmet op.43#3, Erotik

op.43#5, Vanished Days/Svundne Dage op.57#1. Check 'em out.

2.   Berceuse – op. 38 no. 1
3.   Melodie – op. 38 no. 3 (this is particularly beautiful)
4.   Erotik – op. 43 no 5
5.   To Spring – op. 43 no. 6
6.   Melodie – op. 47 no. 3
7.   Elegie – op. 47 no. 7
8.   Notturno – op. 54 no. 4
9.   Sylphide – op. 62 no. 1
10.   At your feet – op. 68 no. 3
11.   Phantom – op. 62 no. 5
12.   Summer’s eve – op. 71 no. 2
13.   Remembrances – op. 71 no. 7

I am surprised Gade made it to no one's list. Very pretty and fits your description perfectly.

I love this repertoire. It makes the piano sound so good!
