A good recital program?
«

This is my program for my senior recital (not finalized, of course):
Chopin - Nocturne in c minor, op.48 no.1
Debussy - Forgotten Images
Beethoven - Sonata op. 54
-inter.-
Ravel - Miroirs
Liszt - Mephisto Waltz no.1
Good or no? Miroirs kills me. I love it to death though, but its taken me years to get it ready.

I like it, but I wouldn't open a concert with a Chopin nocturne.

It's an unusual program which I happen to like. Don't be afraid to experiment with program building. I like that Beethoven sonata. It's a shame that it isn't played more often. Good luck on your recital.

It's a very good programm, but I would not open with the nocturne.

I'd switch the Beethoven and the Chopin ... apart from that, amazing program!

I think you should open it with a Russian composer like Rachmaninov or Scriabin
. And close it with an astounding but exciting piece. Any suggestions?

Isn't Mephisto Waltz not an astounding but exciting piece??

I also wouldn't normally open a program with a nocturne, BUT I think this particular one would make for an effective opening. It's dramatic - you can get the audience attention right at the beginning. I also love the clima of this piece.
