The Quiet Revolutionary of the Piano – Fauré’s Complete Piano Works Now on Piano Street

In the pantheon of French music, Gabriel Fauré (1845–1924) often seems a paradox—an innovator cloaked in restraint, a Romantic by birth who shaped the contours of modern French music with quiet insistence. back to piano (after a LONG hiatus)
on: October 01, 2004, 11:14:51 AM
Hi everyone! I'm a college student who's been away from piano since before high school.. My last recital piece was the third movement of Beethoven's Pathetique.  I've recently discovered the practice rooms on campus and am starting piano up again (it's so much more fun now that I don't have my parents around bothering me to practice  ;D).

My piano teacher kept me limited to Chopin, Beethoven, and Mozart. I'm interested in trying some Lizst, Debussy, and Mendehlsson pieces particularly but am definitely open to all suggestions. There's a wonderful music library located right next to the newly discovered practice rooms.

I have no idea what level I am. Let's just say that I recently listened to the whole Pathetique and just realized that my piano teacher had me playing it at about 1/10 of its meant speed.  >:(

Thanks in advance!
Deborah
