Looking for a piano trans. of Bach's "Erbarme dich"
on: September 04, 2005, 12:52:07 PM
So, does anyone know of any piano reductions of the St Matthew Passion 2nd Part Aria "Erbarme dich"? It has been one of my preferred non-piano music since I sat down for a complete St Matthew session ;D
I doubt it exists tho, but I might be pleasantly surprised, like I often am when reading the Repertoire section (for instance, I never knew there was a 2 piano reduction of the Brandenburg 3 by Reger!). If you're a Bach fan and haven't done any of the Passions, I suggest you do! It's just brilliant.

Thanks a bunch.

I second this request. I dream of playing this transcription in my church. It would be a lot better than common and boring hymns.

I don't have a transcription, sadly, but this thread has gotten me curious about this piece. I had a listen to it yesterday and I was absolutely overwhelmed. It's just lovely.

That's what the Repertoire section is all about I guess, it's great! Here's a Yo Yo Ma transcription of  the thing for cello (not solo tho). Even tho Yo Ma has that digustingly over-romantic approach to everything, in this rec he is quite contained and focused on trying to mimic a human voice and, might I say, he's beautifully successful.

(if I shouldnt post stuff like this, let me know. (as in for the Forum's sake, not mine))
