You've probably been a victim of so-called "banner blindness". The brain tends to filter out everything on a website that looks like advertising. This is some kind of necessary self-protection in today's web, and it works better than any browser plugin. I wonder how many people have detected the button to get a free membership after 1111 successive posts free of insulting content.

There's a quick search and an advanced search.  The colored icons above the thread, below the main tan banner buttons.
