Frédéric Chopin: Preludes
Hi there!
I made a search on the forum about this subject and only found out about general Chopin's works editions. The opinions were diverse and somewhat contradictory. It seems that the better editions are Jan Ekier's, Cortot's, Paderewsky's and G. Henle (this list is not hierarchical). However, I found on amazon.com other specific editions for Chopin's "Préludes" (the particular subject I'm interested in):

Do you know these? Are they worth anything? And about the other editions I mentioned before, what do you think are the best for the Préludes?
Best regards, Carla |
Dear fellows: I have a very simple question: the Preludes by Chopin are not included in the DipABRSM syllabus, but I think some of them meet the required grade. So, what your opinion about which pair/group is best suited to that?
By the way, do you have another non-syllabus work that is possible?
Thanks in advance and best wishes!

I dunno, I was searching through the threads and never really found anything on this that really meant anything;
I just bought the book of preludes, it came in yesterday, I'm looking through this piece, and I can manage the techniques in this piece fine, except the runs upwards in the right hand. I'm playing his G- ballade, and there aren't any runs, except the ones on the last page, that come close to the speed of the right hand runs in this prelude. Like even when I just play them with the right hand, and don't play the left hand notes, it's extremely uneven, almost jumpy.
Do you just need mad fast scales? lol is this one of those things that if I keep playing it over and over again, I'll get it fine; it literally sounds like a glissando, and it pisses me off ;) haha |
| Hi, I'm playing the Chopin Ballade in G minor right now (in the midst of learning :p) and I just ordered the book of his 24 preludes... I've browsed through them at random before, just wanted to know if his 'tougher' ones, namely the Bb minor and such, are on par with the G minor ballade? I want to learn the really impressive, short preludes, but really dunno what they're on a level with... |
