Hi I am a researcher for BBC Radio 4 based in the UK. I am making a series of programmes about how particular pieces of music have affected people who play and listen to them. In particular, I am looking for people who have special stories to tell about their feelings for Chopin's Ballade No 1 in G Minor OP23. Maybe they heard it or played it at a very special time in their lives. And maybe they still have strong memories of this that they would be willing to tell me about. If you have a particular connection to this piece of music and would be interested to speak to me please contact me on soulmusic@bbc.co.uk
Many thanks Rachael Howorth |

Always welcome all comments and critics!! :)
(excuse me for the bad sound quality... ) |
| I'd like to have some of these...preferably 1, 3 and 4, but if 2 is all you have...then 2 is welcome! |
| Hi, I'm playing the Chopin Ballade in G minor right now (in the midst of learning :p) and I just ordered the book of his 24 preludes... I've browsed through them at random before, just wanted to know if his 'tougher' ones, namely the Bb minor and such, are on par with the G minor ballade? I want to learn the really impressive, short preludes, but really dunno what they're on a level with... |
... i ran out of tape in the middle ill record the rest some other time
a lot of wrong notes in the fast section
randomly a little sloppy so sorrry :P

Hi everybody!
I recently gave a recital where I played Beethoven Appassionata Mov. 1, Chopin Ballade No. 1 and No. 4 and Liszt La campanella as an encore. I put the first half on youtube (the second half is coming later):
Appassionata - Part 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V-uyl7ws3vw Appassionata - Part 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vUEoMSvk1kk Ballade No. 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aoa3T5Pj5pU
I'm curious what you think about it. Oh, and please forgive me for the occasional mistakes! |
| Who's is the best interpretation? I think zimerman |
Hi all,
this piece needs a lot more practice (especially the coda con fuoco), but I submit them to you all first for further inputs before I embark on that final journey!
Please comment according to the section numbers:
1) Intro solemn theme 2) fast transition 3) Waltz theme (1st) 4) Middle revolutionary theme 5) Waltz theme (2nd) 6) Coda con fuoco

Chopin Ballade 1, 4. Yann Tiersen : Most of his works, even though they might all sound similar to each other :-p.

I have almost learnt the entire piece, but there is one techique I have trouble with. A couple of places you need to play the same chord twice at very high speed, for instance the right hand in the beginning of the coda. I cant get this up to speed, maybe I dont use my wrist right, could someone give some hints on how to practise for this technique.
I find the rest of the coda a lot easier, and can play this above performance speed. |
