xx need help on chopin 25/6
October 26, 2008, 04:00:17 AM by heha

Hi guys, I came across this forum while searching for help on this etude and it sure looks a great place for advice  Smiley

Anyway, I would like to ask anyone who can play this fluidly: what fingering do you use from bars 11-12 and bars 43-48?

especially for bars 43-46, I have tried different combinations for the top notes (while maintaining 1-2 for the bottom notes) but just couldn't find a combination to play them cleanly and evenly enough.

For the bars with descending thirds, how do I practise to get my thumb bounce across the keys quickly enough, or should I change my entire fingering altogether? Everytime I try to increase the tempo my thumb lets me down  Angry

xx 25/6 initial fingering
November 23, 2007, 09:32:27 PM by cloches_de_geneve

I am learning (or rather trying to learn) Chopin's etude op. 25/6 (thirds).

To pianists who have studied this etude I ask:

What fingerings do you use for the thirds in the initial few bars? I started with 13-24 because it felt natural and comfortable; but I am realizing it might not be resistant to high speed. So, now I am trying 13-25 which allows for greater speed, just that sometimes it gets very irregular. Now, I am torn. And I don't think 14-25 is a real alternative. Any suggestions?

xx Chopin Op. 25/6

Hey all,
I was looking at this etude and trying to read through it, but I just could not play the thirds at tempo evenly. Is there a specific motion to play those thirds/a specific way of hitting the keys? I would appreciate your help--I'm trying to learn this etude and I dont want to learn it in an irreversibly bad way.

xx Chopin: Op 25 No 6 (Etude in thirds)
November 19, 2005, 07:09:19 PM by pianohopper

Seeing as my reputation in the Audition Room can't get much lower, what have I got to lose?  A recording of myself playing the Chopin etude Op. 25 No. 6, G# minor.  (The Etude in Thirds.)  Comments are welcome.  Played this for a recital Tuesday, but that recording was not good quality-- plus I don't have it yet.
