xx Widmung vs. Scherzo No.2
July 22, 2008, 03:30:22 AM by sevten

I have an upcoming recital in six months and I have narrowed it down to two pieces:
Schumann/Liszt - Widmung
Chopin - Scherzo No.2

What do you think are the pros and cons of each song?  To you, which one is more difficult?  What should I watch out for in each piece?  Thank you for all of your help!

xx Schumann/Liszt - Widmung
May 19, 2005, 03:58:09 AM by donjuan

Ok, this is my first recording for the forum.  Sound quality is pretty bad and you hear computer clicking noises throughout.  As for the playing...well, for some reason, my touch sounds more annoyingly percussive in the recording, compared to how it did sound... but anyway, no more excuses! comments and suggestions, please!

xx Question about Lizst transcription of Schumann's Liebeslied (Widmung)
May 09, 2005, 08:35:32 PM by lani

Could someone advise if the above piece is allowed for competitions ?  Is it considered an original solo piano piece? What are rules generally regarding transcribed pieces vs. the orignial composer? My daughter (12) loves this piece and wants to play it for the local music teacher's recital and competition for next year.  She really wants to work on the Lizst transcription -(not the accompaniment to the song) by Schumann.  Also, any background information on this piece would be very helpful, as well as the difficulty /grade level.  Thanks very much.   Smiley
