xx Schubert Impromptu Op.90 No.2 - Difficulty
February 27, 2009, 02:53:58 PM by frank_48

how hard would this piece be out of 10 do you think?

i want to start it, it doesnt seem that hard, i am looking for a big performance piece that will take a long time to learn, you know something huge.

i dont know if im emphasising the word 'huge' properly.

i want it to be long, 4+ minuets is nice, and something that takes time and effort to achieve perfection. nothing like a liszt etude though. Shocked

something managable for a student in his second year of learning.

Latley its just been clementi/burgmuller and other grade 3-4 pieces. which isnt that bad, i mean its good for progress and all that but i want to feel challenged, but not to the point of total frustration if you know what i mean.

perhaps someone can recommend other pieces with that criteria?

not Chopin/Bach/Beethoven though, i have that sorted on when i will play those pieces.

Smiley i think the fingering of this piece is very difficult - do we need to play with pedal for almost the entire piece ?

smiley Schubert Impromptu: Op90n2
April 15, 2007, 04:54:52 AM by piano121

Hi folks. It has been a while since my last post. I got some problems whith my recording gear. Finaly got it fixed.

About the piece, As some felow pianists posted their versions of op90 n2, and other impromptus as well. I felt compeled to post mine to. I m very fond of this piece, I have listened to it for the fisrt time, several years ago, and didnīt give it much atention. Along with  other Schubert stuff. Then years latter I started to listen to Schubert again, and started liking it more and more. then Schubert sort of grew on me, as I listened carefully to his music and tried to understand it . No doubt he is amongst the best.

In this recording I tried to manifest what I feel about Schubertīs music generaly, of course, based on my knowledge at this moment. I just rec. it a few hours ago. I have been studing it for a while, several months. It still has lotīs of things I would like to polish, and make it better, but thats how I can deal with this piece at this moment. It was pretty dificult to handle it, I think maibe it would be easier if I started it a little latter, maibe it was i little bit above my level when i first started studying it.  Tongue Somehow I worked my way to its completion.

Iīm working on beethovenīs op2n1, Itīs been much more confortable to hadle it. (I now, you must say... wait till the 4th mov.)

Coments apreciated. Grin

xx Schubert - Impromptu in E-Flat Major (op.90 no.2)
January 19, 2006, 09:44:34 AM by nicko124

I've just started this piece and would appreciate advice regarding it.

I am not too worried about most of this piece because I have already tried sections out and it's not that bad at all.

However the second section of the piece worries me a little (bars 25-50). The right hand part for these bars just seems awkward to me, it doesen't seem to lie under the hand that well. I can imagine it being difficult to play at top speed because so far I have only gone through it slow.

Can anyone help??

My English is quite horrible, so excuse me!  Embarrassed
I would like to post some recordings by me! There are three studies op.10 by Chopin and the Impromptu op.90 n.2 in e flat by Schubert!
I hope you like it (the quality is quite low, I'm sorry!)  Smiley

What customers said about pianostreet.com:

"All of my students are members of Pianostreet and many of my teacher colleagues have joined as well.
It is an excellent resource for students and teachers alike and there is very rarely any need to visit another website or music store in search of sheet music."

Andrea Boltresz, piano teacher
Robertson, Australia

"As a frequent user of pianostreet.com I find it easy to navigate, great value for money and very professional. The pieces are all well-graded and the audio is really useful, especially for pieces not heard before. I have recommended the site to many of my friends who play the piano. Keep up the good work."

Paul, Llansannan, UK.

"Wonderful service! [...] I have no reservation in recommending it as a “must” to all pianists, both teachers and students, amateur and professional."

Dr. Robert J Keane, pianist
Australia

"I was in Poland the past summer to give 2 concerts. At the last minute they requested some Chopin, which I had not brought with me. So, I google-searched for classical downloads and found your site. I was able to print out excellent editions of the pieces I needed within minutes. To find the scores locally would have been inpossible as it was a smaller town, the nearest music store 45 minutes away."

Robert York, pianist
Long Beach, California

"Piano Street has been a wonderful tool to me as both a pianist and a piano teacher. I can browse the collection for pieces I want to play and/or have my students play. The difficulty rating system that Piano Street uses enables me to search by difficulty level for pieces at my students' various playing levels. It is helpful that many of the scores include an audio clip of the piece being played. I have recommended to my advanced students that they also join Piano Street since getting sheet music from there is a much less expensive alternative to ordering and paying for the music.
