Franz Schubert - DancesSchubert's numerous dances for piano are simple, graceful and melodic works, of which many are suitable for the intermediate player. The dance was a part of Schubertâs output throughout his life. His ability to compose a steady stream of these charming miniatures contributed to what little public recognition and income he had. His very first instrumental compositions to appear in print were the 36 Original Dances, D 365, published as Op. 9 in 1821. Schubert usually composed the dances in groups. However, individual dances were often picked out and published again in other groups, sometimes transposed or slightly altered. |
