J. C. Bach - Piano Music
Johann Christian Bach
Johann Christian Bach (1735-1782) was one of J.S. Bach’s youngest children. He was a composer of great renown in his younger years, but his sun had set by the time he died. His contribution to the world wasn’t just musical, however. In 1764, Leopold Mozart brought his son with him to London, and J.C. Bach became his teacher. The two formed an ironclad and lifelong friendship. Even Leopold acknowledged J.C. Bach’s influence on his young wunderkind. Bach had studied extensively with his older brother Carl, and both of them had a terrific effect on Mozart’s own compositions. J.C. Bach’s dismissal by the musical world was grossly unfair, and his 90 symphonies and a multitude of operas and concertos are delightful and worthy of note.
