About Franz Liszt's 3 Caprice-Valses
The three Caprices-Valses were published in 1852, but are based on previous versions composed from 1836-43. The Bravura Waltz and the Valse Mélancolique were Liszt's first large-scale compositions in the dance genre, and often appeared in his concert programs. The Valse a capriccio is an opera transciption, based on two themes from operas by Donizetti.
