Sergey Prokofiev
Three Pieces
Op. 59
About Sergey Prokofiev's Three Pieces
The Three Pieces Op. 59 were composed in 1933–34, just before Prokofiev returned to the Soviet Union after an 18-year stay abroad, mostly in France. They feature an increased sense of childlike simplicity, warmth, and playfulness compared to much of the music he wrote during his years away from Russia.
