on: September 09, 2005, 07:19:26 PM
I found this and, its brilliant, but have absolutely NO idea what it is. I dont need the sheet music, cos I'm busy scoring it out myself by ear but would love to know if anyone has a clue what it is.
I dont play an instrument, I play the piano.

It sounds like Sarasate to me.

I suppose it could be something along the Sarasate lines... When I first heard it, I was under the impression that it was some sort of traditional dance or something... anyway... I would love to play it (I play the violin aswell... but I mainly only enjoy it as a hobby, playing stuff like this... a pity I'll have to give it up halfway through my BMus though... whatever.)

I believe this is a Romanian song called "Pe ulita". About 12 years ago I played in an gypsy orchestra in traditional setting (about 9 musicians) and that song was on our repertoire. I have a recording on cd (by the Istvan Lichter gypsy orchestra) on which it is called "Pe ulita si sėrba de concert". I don't know what the words mean.

But hey, nice  to hear this version.
