Alkan - Symphonie, Marche Funebre
on: April 16, 2006, 06:04:29 PM
Slow movement from Alkan's Symphonie.

Live recording, Edinburgh 2005.
Piano: Steinway Model D.

I'd welcome any comments on this recording; I'm not 100% happy with it, but it would be interesting to see what people think about it.

great performance! I'm glad someone is playing some Alkan in the audition room... ive been having a go at some but all the good stuff too difficult (op 35, 39 and Grande Sonate).
Oh well, this one sounds like an easier one of them - more than the fourth movement! Well done though... it sounds proffessional! Really! The wrong note right at the beggining didnt help... but lol i guess you know about that!!!
Fantastic... well done... you play the first theme with more staccato than I've heard previously but i really like it!

Here's another recording of the piece (seeing as debating Alkan's merits seem to be topical, heh).

Video rather than mp3; from recital given last month.

Again, I'd appreciate comments.
