Kachachurian Toccata
on: September 21, 2006, 10:14:27 PM
If anyone has the score for this, please could you post it/send me it? My Prof wants me to learn it for a recital and competition in November, but lost his score about 30 years ago!

Many thanx,

Dave

Hoping is not enough here.
It is your responsibility to make sure the file is legal before uploading it to Piano Street.
Khachaturian's Toccata is very much under copyright.

It was suggested somewhere that a "sticky" be applied to this thread giving the basics of copyright.

This would seem to be an excellent idea.

I think we are OK if we abide by the 75 year rule.

ie no composer who died after 1931.

Saying that, there are pieces by Rachmaninov, Prokoviev and even Stravinsky offered in the sheet music section here.

Anyway, i don't want to start a copyright discussion of Hintonesque proportions.

The sticky is still a great idea and will come.
We are still thinking about how to formulate fair and legal rules that will work with all different copyright laws all over the world....

The main rules to keep in mind are that a work published before 1923 is in the public domain in US while in EU all works by composers who have been dead for at least 70 years are in the public domain.
The server is located in US so for uploading files the 1923 rule would apply but when downloading it depends on in which country you are.
