Mary Had a Little Blues
on: January 21, 2007, 06:59:44 PM
i found this cute song for kids (kindergarteners) while shopping at pepper music.  it's by c collins and i arranged in a simpler version just for fun.  the words are:

mary had a little lamb...

sing baa baa mary, sing baa baa to your blues
leave that sheep at home girl, and get yourself to school

it followed her to school one day, which was against the rules
it made the children laugh and play, oh my it was so cool

oh baa baa mary, sing baa baa to your blues
take that sheep back home girl, and get yourself to school

blah blah

The rhyme scheme's not exactly vintage Cole Porter, is it? (but then the scansion's not that brilliant either). However, there's little improvement to be found in

"Mary had a little lamb.
The Lamb of God was He -
Which stressed Him so, He said "I am
Black sheep of family""

apart from its perhaps being a little nearer to reality than all the baa-baa stuff...

But then, since I have no children, what would I know?...

well, for public school performances - you can't have religion - so i made it sort of non-serious.

Not as non-serious as I think I did!

But - in another thread - you just mentioned something about three children having come from somewhere, which, whilst this fact cannot, of course, be denied, reminds me that
"Mary had a little Lamb;
It caused her lots of pain.
Quoth she to Joe: "I really am
Not having one again!"

Mary had a little bike
She rode it around the grass
Every time the wheel went round
The spokes went .....................

Upper Class (as in Virgin Airways' faintly absurd and at the same time beautifully un-PC terminology for "First Class")...

Oui, précisement (as Insp. Poirot would doubtless have said)...
