Hi michael,

I have not played the Third, Op. 42 Barcarolle, only the Sixth, Op. 70, so I cannot comment on specifics about your performance.  Nevertheless, I've always loved the Op. 42--one of the most attractive pieces in the set in my opinion.  This piece deserves to be played more frequently.  It has that wonderful Late Romantic sound to it, but with the distinctive Faure idiom.  Sometimes I think I hear just a tinge of Impressionism in his writing too, probably because these barcarolles are so picturesque.  Your playing has fine fluidity and fluency in this music, and is very expressive too.  A fine performance!  I really enjoyed listening to your recording.

i like this, too, however, in some places (randomly) i'd become very pianissimo.  i guess where it's marked.  it has a solid sound - and the 'singing' is always there.  am just missing that little tiny bit of 'relaxation' - actually maybe i hear it now right before the mid-section.  that was nice!

wow.  the middle part is really something. this is so wonderfully bacarollish.  i'd be satisified just with this section.  yes.  a BIG contrast with the A part to the B part.  maybe the A part being less 'solid' that the middle.  as though you are moving from vapors to a dreamy reality and back again to vapors.
