"You" goes to School in September (improv)
on: September 15, 2008, 12:03:00 AM
Here's an improv I recorded this evening after listening to Karli's and Quantum's recent improv offerings. It's a suite of short pieces. Enjoy.

(Yes we know it's in the wrong section)
For reference,

Do most people here get the enjoyment out of pianostreet's improvisations that I do?
I love the personalities and the natural languages of the different musicians here, to say nothing of the mutual respect and comradery that has developed between the great contributors. I read a post of Walter Ramsey's somewhere suggesting improvisation be added to the major piano competitions. I don't know what I think of judging these "musics" competitively, but certainly would like there to be light shed on the area, with a view towards its treatment as valid form of expression in this musical world. I know fine artists who could play the fire out of a large repertoire (Ives Concord and such) but simply will not sit at the piano and improvise...it is completely foreign to me how it can be so foreign to them! I am thankful then for those here who share their spontaneous musical thoughts with this crowd.
Ah, Derek, sir, you are very good at what you do. I like the deep bass (it's rich) in this sound (sustains not quite like a piano, but I know you work with midi samples, said the uneducated man.). I thoroughly enjoyed this.
