Bach Sinfonia no. 8
on: June 08, 2009, 12:08:21 AM
Hey!
I did this recording yesterday, of Bach's sinfonia no. 8. Please ignore the horrible sound of my piano, it is out of tune. I finished reading it 3 weeks ago, so I'm still working on it. Please say what do you think I can improve on my playing.

Thanks,

Bella

bella,  I am not familiar with this piece by Bach and I am sorry about the sound of your piano.
I know how difficult it can be to make a decent recording, but you did it and that's the main thing here.  What I suggest is to lighten up on the striking the keys, although I do not not know what your piano key action is, so I am merely making an assumption here.  You do play the notes separately and yet play with a softer touch and some dynamics when the passages go up or down.  A little louder on the passages going up and a little softer on the passages going down.  Bring out the main voice though throughout the piece.  It is commendable that you learned this in a 3 week period.   :)

best wishes,

I really like your playing, Bella.  I would suggest more dynamic variation.
There is vivifying force in your playing.

I see I should work on my dynamics. I can hear them, but they can be more "vibrating", as I think is the real character of the piece. Thank you for the suggestions.
