Jeremy Ricketson - The White Rose

This a composition from about four years ago.....  tell me what you think!

I like the changes in the opening motif, I like the use of runs around 2:56 and I like that chord at 4:04. The piece has pleasing variation within unity of mood, which I find attractive.

Hey man, this is gorgeous!  Around 2:08 starts a passage with a lot of wonderful suspensions....very atmospheric, it really draws me in! I'm going to have to add you to my playlist of obscure improvisers/composers I've met on the internet 

adding this later: I don't think its simply that you're using suspensions that I like....its the flowing movement of the left hand and the contour of the melody combined with the suspension that draws me in.

Derek - I'm glad you noticed the suspensions in the middle section.  That's my favorite part, too!

Ted - That chord you mentioned at 4:04 is indeed a nifty chord - its a 13th chord I think.... Eb G Bb D F# A from top to bottom.  When I wrote the piece I didn't know about 13th chords.... what I did to get the chord is place a D major triad on top of an Eb major triad.

What happened to this recording? This is not the recording that had been up here previously. Previously there had been a normal piano composition here. I'm sad that it seems to have been hacked or replaced somehow. Anyone have the original?

Nope, not him. I vaguely remember what Jeremy looked like and I think he had been living in Tulsa, OK when he was active on this website. It is really sad this composition was replaced, it was really good. I'd love to hear it again. Sadly I lost track of the mp3 myself.

Almost sounds like some hacker replaced it with some Stockhausen nonsense or other modern garbage. I know in a recent post I said I learned that someone can be "genuinely fascinated" with modern sounds, and I suppose I still believe that is true, but comparing something like this Soundscape.mp3 with the white rose composition that had been here, I don't understand why anybody in their right mind would waste time with such sounds.

Every so often I try finding Jeremy Ricketson and this White Rose composition. The file that is in the original post of this thread is not that composition. It was a really beautiful piano composition. I once had the mp3 of it, and sadly I have lost it. I wonder whatever happened to the guy, and what possessed him to sign on to pianostreet and remove the recording? Quite sad.

Maybe he'll find this some day and see I searched for his music every 5 years and feel guilty and cough it up.
