Concert flyers
on: June 19, 2005, 10:12:04 AM
I am having a recital next week and i am supposed to make a flyer with my pic on it. Actually it is my first recital and i don't have much information and experience about how to make cool flyers that can attract people and that are not too ("Hey I can play the piano and i am cute"), u get it....

Will a pic of me playing on the grand on stage be fine or i need some pic where there is no piano... I am totally confused.

Advice please........

i don't see the point of having a pic - if you show up and play at your own recital.  people see you then!  why not simply print out a one pager with your program?  maybe, if you decide to, a simple face shot with a short bio on the back?
do you know why benches fall apart?  it is because they have lids with little tiny hinges so you can store music inside them.  hint:  buy a bench that does not hinge.  buy it for sturdiness.

Most important make sure you include the "who, what, where, and when"?

Pictures also do help.  And colour.

This flyer is creating an image and you are trying to sell your product of music making.

usually it's more or less either a headshot or a picture of you somewhere near a piano.

picture... date. time. name. some musical accomplishments/ short bio. programme to feature music of composer, composer, etc. address of the venue.

The program or list of composers performed is what I find to attract most attention.  If you are unsure about layout, keep it simple and clear.  Throw in a few graphics, and choose appropriate coloured paper.

My friend wanted to do a silly alternate poster for her recital.  She put a picture of Munch's "The Scream" on there with text saying something like "this is what you will look like after hearing my recital."   :o  it was quite funny, and caused some amount of ruccus with professors.  But it centainly worked - it got peoples attention.
Made a Liszt. Need new Handel's for Soler panel & Alkan foil. Will Faure Stein on the way to pick up Mendels' sohn. Josquin get Wolfgangs Schu with Clara. Gone Chopin, I'll be Bach
