Kalkbrenner
on: June 29, 2005, 06:14:04 PM
Hello:
I need to know the works by Frederic Kalkbrenner for piano.
Do you know, specially his sonatas. I can't find any work but, I read someting about him in a book of the history of piano and piansts.

If you can give some directions or scores I will be  gratefull.

Thanks, I am waiting your answer.

I guess his only claim to fame is that he nearly changed the course of piano music history by offering to teach Chopin. Thankfully, Chopin declined.

His only solo piece that almost stood the test of time was his once famous Effusio Musica.  I have never heard it played but it looks similar to something that Herz, Moscheles or Pixis might have written.

I have heard a recording of his concerto which is more than listenable.

I'll send you the Effusio Musica that thalbergmad mentioned, and a couple of others.

Joel12608, If you have the score of the Concerto, i would be obliged if you would send it to me.

Unfortunately I only have a very miserable quality pdf.  I believe someone took pictures of the pages with a digital camera.  Sorry I don't have a better one than this to offer:

If you'd like an audio of this piece (or the Piano Concerto), let me know.
