Anyone here familiar with this composer?
I like his Piano Concerto No.1 very much but i dont know where i can get the score. Does anybody here know where i can get it and who publishes it?
and since its the first concerto, do you know if there are others and recordings of them?
What about some of his other works ie for piano? I'm rather keen to find out more about this composer.

I'm a recent convert to this fascinating composer.  Unfortunately, the 1st concerto (which is magnificent) has been out of print for some time, and I had to pull some strings in order to get a copy of the score from IPAM.  He wrote two other concerti btw (one of which is for the left hand alone).  I believe there is a recording by Stephen Coombs, but if it's like any of his other Bortkiewicz performances, it's quite dull, unfortunately.  He wrote a great many pieces for the piano, I would suggest looking at the Op. 15 etudes, Op. 29 etudes, Sonatas (#2 in C# minor is cool), and many sets of preludes.

I heard the Sonata #1 a couple years ago and looked for the music to it, but I never could find it.  I thought the sonata was quite impressive.  Anyone know if it is still published anywhere?

I've got a number of his scores which all look interesting, the ballade is the only one I've heard apart from some etudes posted by thracz.

I spent several hours this past weekend listening to clips off of CDs from Amazon.com, and playing through the above scores.  Most of this music is very beautiful, and extremely high quality writing.  The Piano Concerto is one of the most beautiful I have ever heard - especially the first movement.  I do not understand how this composer is so unknown.  His music has similarities with Rachmaninoff, Scriabin, Tchaikowsky, and also Wagner.  The opening to the Piano Concerto is sort of a quote from the Prelude to Tristan and Isolde, I think.  There is lots of Hollywood in this music.  I highly recommend it.  The Ballade is great, as are many of the Preludes, Etudes, Lamentations and Consolations and Morceaux.
