Hi!
I have finally taken on my piano playing again...and this time it's actually fun XD

but when I played when IO was a little kid I wasn't so interested in learning to read notes...I did my own music instead^^
but anyway...I want to learn to read it so I can learn new songs without somebody elses help...I learn abnormally quick if someone shows me how to play the song.

I have good memory when it comes to play different instruments!

but do any of you have a good way how to learn this Language of Music? ^^

Greetings.

Good job on starting the piano. The only realy way to improve sight reading, or playing the notes at sight, is to practice it. It naturally comes easier with more technical practice as you get a hold of the patterns, such as Czerny for lets say Mozart sonatas. I hope this helps :)

Sorry for my grammatical mistakes. I meant to spell "real" not "really"

Good readers take in patterns easily, so start thinking about how you can recognise note patterns.

The basics are:
- notes going up the stave = rising pitch, so going to the right on the piano, and vice versa.

- no gaps in between the pitch of two notes (going from line to adjacent space or vice versa) means the next note. For example, if you have just played the bottom line and the next note is in the next space, you just play the next note up.

- line-to-line or space-to-space means missing a key on the piano, and usually a finger as well. For example, you just played the bottom line with your thumb and the next note is on the next line, then you will use your third finger.

Think about the logical extension of these basic patterns and you quickly become able to spot them in a piece of music. As soon as you beging to spot, say, runs of notes as runs rather than individual notes that need working out, you are getting into fluent reading.

Having said all that, you can use reading as a powerful aid to your aural ability. You are one of those who can 'pick out' pieces, from what I understand reading your post. This is a powerful ability that means you can play from memory. As well as usefully developing your reading, also use this aural ability and use reading to check the details.

Make sure to also read slowly at first and look at the sheet music.
