I recently came across this new piano competition sponsored by PIANOOvision and the World Piano Pedagogy Conference and thought this forum might benefit from it.  The first two rounds are conducted on the internet and the final round is live at the conference in Atlanta, GA from October 24-26, 2006.  There are several categories such as piano miniature, sonata, fugue, etude, improvisation, mozart, concerto, etc. and you can enter in as many categories as you choose ($1000 1st prize per category).  There are no age or nationality restrictions either.

Here's the link:

If anyone is interested in competing, you need to apply and get the Preliminary Round recordings to them by July 15, 2006.

Yes, I already registered and should be on the website by now... should be fun.  I'm only doing the Etude category.  One of my friends from Manhattan is competing in a couple other categories.  I'm not paid to promote this, so don't think this is an idle sponsorship by me. ;)

Not sure... guess it really doesn't matter that much unless it's over by a LOT??  In live performance, they'd probably stop you, so I'd assume it'd be similar for the recording..
