WPPC Most Wanted World PIANOvision Competition (Edit: ONE WEEK LEFT!!)
on: July 08, 2006, 10:59:36 AM
I recently came across this new piano competition sponsored by PIANOOvision and the World Piano Pedagogy Conference and thought this forum might benefit from it. The first two rounds are conducted on the internet and the final round is live at the conference in Atlanta, GA from October 24-26, 2006. There are several categories such as piano miniature, sonata, fugue, etude, improvisation, mozart, concerto, etc. and you can enter in as many categories as you choose ($1000 1st prize per category). There are no age or nationality restrictions either.
Here's the link:
https://www.pianovision.com/mostwanted/index.php
If anyone is interested in competing, you need to apply and get the Preliminary Round recordings to them by July 15, 2006.

News from this competition:
"The first phase of the WPPC Most Wanted PIANOvision Competition is well on its way.
We are extending the application deadline to August 1st
to give you and your students a little more time to prepare the audition recordings. I invite everyone to participate! -Click here- to see the worldwide exposure ALL of our current competitors are receiving. Remember, 17,000 visitors come to our site every month!"
The "click here" refers to the link I provided in the original post.

Yes, I already registered and should be on the website by now... should be fun. I'm only doing the Etude category. One of my friends from Manhattan is competing in a couple other categories. I'm not paid to promote this, so don't think this is an idle sponsorship by me.

Not sure... guess it really doesn't matter that much unless it's over by a LOT?? In live performance, they'd probably stop you, so I'd assume it'd be similar for the recording..

It explains everything on the website, which is why I offered a link in the first post.
