but the two choices are light or darkness. there is no light in darkness for there is nothing to illumine and cast a beam of light on. the light shines because of the sun. we shine because of Christ. heb 2:6 'what is man, that Thou remember him? or the son of man, that Thou are concerned with him? Thou hast made him for a little while lower than the angels; Thou hast crowned him with glory and honor, and hast appointed him over the works of Thy hands; Thou has put all things in subjection under his feet...for in subjecting all things to him, He left nothing that is not subject to him. but now we do not YET see all things subjected to him.'
interestingly, too, Jesus Christ called us 'little children.' in hebrews He again makes mention of us in a different context (a greater one) saying , 'behold, I and the children whom God has given me.' if we are called 'children' of God - then someday we will be 'like' him - especially as we have the same Spirit of God! it is like having the same types of 'chromosomes' as a mother or father. they are supposed to give us identifying characteristics.
also, Christ overcame the devil (heb 2:14) 'He himself likewise also partook of the same, that through death He might render powerless him who had the power of death, that is, the devil....' so He did the mightiest superhuman deed that there is! He overcame Satan himself - the father of death.
Having done just as I predicted you would do in this thread, you've immediately turned it all into yet another Christian preach-fest / Bible study session, just as you so often tend to do. There are those who believe that humans are called "children of God" and those who don't, just as there are those who accept what you say and quote about Christ, etc. and those who don't.
Whilst I do not, as I'm sure you already know, seek to undermine the fact that you believe what you do - and whilst I am also happy that your beliefs are genuinely held and that they do what they do for you - can you not at least see that others here do not share those beliefs and that, in any case, they are no more or less than just that - beliefs - not scientifically proven and inalienable facts. Even the "Anything but Piano" section in which you make most of your incessant Christian/Biblical statements does not exist on this forum for the principle purpose of promoting Christianity and Biblical study; I'm not seeking to censor you (that's not my job, anyway, since the content of this forum is sanctioned by Nils Johan, whose sole responsibility it is to monitor its content), but I do nevertheless urge you to give some serious thought to the sheer amount of this kind of material that you so frequently draw into discussions of subjects that are unconnected with it or, as here, whose connection with it is at most tenuous and has therefore to some extent to be contrived.
Years of listening experience and working with various pianists has led to my personal belief, for example, that the very best modern Bösendorfer 290 pianos are greater than the finest modern Steinway model D instruments in a number of particulars that are important to me, but I don't use every opportunity and none to go on about this, especially in places where the subject/s under discussion are unrelated or not at all closely related to it. Some people share my belief; others don't. I neither have shares in Bösendorfer nor do I act officially or unoffically as PR agent for that firm. I simply believe what my ears tell me about something in which I happen to be interested. Can you understand and accept what I am trying to say to you here?
Sorry - end of plaint. Back to the superheroism of the thread title. Bösendorfer's finest modern 290s are a superheroic achievement, though (to my mind)...
Best,
Alistair
