A variation of Mozart's 'Alla Turca'
on: November 30, 2006, 05:17:02 PM
Hello! I recently went to a piano concert, and as an encore the pianist played a variation of Mozart's 'Alla Turca' (from the Sonata K331) and I am wondering if anyone knows who wrote the variation so I can find it. It was a very dramatic piece, very grand, very fast and very exciting (and unfortunately not the one available here on PS). Any help would be great!

Yeah, that's the one! Thanks so much. Wouldn't have found it otherwise.

Maybe it's Volodos, maybe it's Fazil Say. ;)

I like Fazil's version more.

The volodos is just..meh..

It's neither positive nor negative
Bach - Partita No.2
Scriabin - Etude 8/12
Debussy - L'isle Joyeuse
Liszt - Un Sospiro

Goal:
Prokofiev - Toccata

Well, am about halfway through the Volodos' version, slowly making progress and am having fun. How could you not like it invictious!? But of course we all have different tastes. :) The Fazil version also looks quite interesting and I will give that a go.

i'm trying both, too.  many thanks!  hoping that the neighbors will not get angry.  you know - when you play this piece anywhere - there are probably a few that start banging their heads on the walls.

I don´t like booth pieces. I prefer the original, it has only the nescessary amount of notes. All the rest this guys put in are just unnessessary fat imo.  :P
