You didnt scrutinise my post..I went into quite some detail about speed of key. But actually 'raw finger speed' isnt beneficial, control of finger speed IS. it is the precise and appropriate useage of the fingers which can create a range of colours at the piano. Speed in terms of dashing from one end of the keyboard to the other isnt difficult. Dont presume to tell me I dont know the difference between 'fast fingers and fast playing' I happen to have done a research paper on finger technique as part of a teaching diploma and I studied technique (including fast playing) with several distinguished teachers during my college years.

I DID read your poast, and I understood perfectly what you meant.

You spoke about velocity of strike, and you think this is different to velocity of repetitions - this is partially true, but they are still related to the raw ability af the finger itself.

I SAID about the precise and appropriate usage of the fingers to produce 'colours' and other 'musical' effects.

I also said, and this is where you're WRONG - that raw finger speed is the catalyst and facilitater of every bit of control that you apply to them..

I have an INCREDIBLE tool, and I use it marvelously.

You are satisfied with your mediocre tool, and as long as you do not get in enlarged, no matter how well you use it, you'll never produce the same effect.

you're all hot air op10/2 and incredibly rude. How can piano playing not be anything to do with finger ability - that isnt in question. The question is the value of the speed at which you waggle your fingers in relation to pianistic greatness...they do not correlate.

What advice you havent given a shread of advice NOR do i suspect you ever will. Which books have you actually read on piano technique, who have you actually learned from?

I do not need to read from books.

I do as the ancient greek philosiphers did - I debate among likeminded individuals and come to intelligently formed conclusions.

My advice, to crystalize and distill my words - would be to..in conjunction with honing your technique and musical facilty - to also keep in mind that it is possible and advisable to increase your raw mechanical ability - which will have a great effect on every area of your pianism.
